Apocalypse World 2nd Edition: MEAT Campaign (Completed)

Apocalypse World

This apocalypse is called Meat.

GM Notes:

2nd edition playtest? you may hypothetically ask if you are aware of the first edition. Where's a fella get their hands on something like that that website link at the top only has the 1st edition on it? Well I'm glad you asked imaginary reader of my blog who takes an active interest in gaming. I found out Vincent Baker (creator of Apocalypse World, aka the 21st punk rock Gary Gigax, aka the guy who reinvented RPGs with his Apocalypse World system that is free to use to create your own games with) has a Patreon account where he shares his alpha rule sets and has a forum discussion with people. $3 later I had the AW 2nd Ed rules; which he said he felt compelled to redo after seeing Mad Max: Fury Road.

World Description:

It has become a vicious and savage place since the collapse of the old world. Harsh sand storms and roving packs of raiders make survival outside of a settlement almost impossible. Most animals were either wiped out or used for food long ago, so food is not easy to find out in the wasteland.

The settlement was built from a crashed vehicle that hit the earth with such impact that it left a sizable crater around it. The largest piece of the wreckage had part of the vehicle's designation # on it:  1-DR; hence why people call it the City of 1-DR. Some people say it was a space station that fell out of orbit, others say it was the ship that dropped the bomb that ended the world, but most people don't have time to think about it because they are too busy just trying to survivesurviving. The settlement is has between 75-150 inhabitants, depending on who you ask and when. There are strong walls made out of metal and earth that help keep everything out.

The currency in 1-DR is taxidermied animals. Since there are no more new animals, whatever is left is a finite amount; which is why it's used as currency in the town.

In order to gain entry into the settlement, you have to compete in The Big Show. A winner take all competition that is randomly switched between a fighting pit free for all where the survivor gets let in and the losers become meat served to the people inside of 1-DR. The people who survive and get into the town are decadent and perverse. Ingesting drugs and alcohol, engaging in weird sex acts, and surviving on the flesh of the losers at the big show. People are kept safe/in line/in fear by the large gang of savage "reformed" raiders that are the settlement's guards.

Characters:

  • Gritch Sundown the Brainer: An ambiguous person in fetish bondage gear that consists of a latex sleeveless shirt, a pair of Brainer-violation gloves, a utili-kilt, and a trough strapped to it's plump moist face. Gritch's soft body and dead eyes sometimes give the appearance of a bloated corpse. Hidden within the utili-kilt are an endless supply of knives stolen from the Butchershop. Gritch also carries an implant syringe for help getting people to do what he wants.
  • Chief McFigglesworth The Maestro'D: A woman in butcher's wear with a bulletproof vest on under the apron. She has a pretty face, despite missing an eye and wearing an eye-patch. Has a lean body and skilled precise hands, it's clear she knows how to handle her cleaver not just for cutting up the loser-meat either.
  • Li'l Walt the King of 1-DR the Hardholder: A man who wears fine well maintained suits with a gorgeous face, commanding eyes, and a sensual body. He is the leader of the gang that controls 1-DR and is the inventor/host of The Big Show, his idea of population control, only the strong survive.
