Dungeon World Campaign: Scurvy - Adventure 7

Adventure 7: Finding the lost servants
Player Characters:
Mike as Z - the swashbuckling scoundrel vampire
Stephen as Geralt Darkstar - the cursed pirate alchemist

Upon returning to life the PCs began their quest again very shaken. They examined the bodies of the undead that had killed Z. They found that their bones had absorbed some residual magic from the Shattered Continent. With the help of their snarky automaton parrot aboard their ship, they figured out that this happened when there was a great expulsion of magical energy. There had been an attack that shattered the continent during the great Mage War many centuries ago.

The PCs decided they wanted to investigate the island more. Climbing through the network of collapsed buildings through canyons made by the continents destruction, they eventually found themselves at a strange epicenter to the island: an enormous metal dome with smoke stacks on top spewing out steady puffs of smoke. There was only one entrance and the PCs decided to try and draw crack the dome open. Using a pry bar Geralt had in his adventuring gear, the two promptly broke the first pry bar in their attempt at opening it. Luckily Geralt's adventuring gear had a spare and they opened the door a small crack.

The didn't see much inside, but the doors rumbled open slowly. They had time to hide behind some rubble. A small smoke spewing automaton came out to see what had affected the door. Seeing nothing, it turned around and headed back in. The doors began to close behind it and Z jumped into a daring maneuver of tossing Geralt over his shoulder, vaulting the rubble and diving through the doors as they closed, only to land in the center of hundreds of similarly shaped automatons.

Moments before the pair opened fire and died a second time in a blaze of foolish glory, a well made automaton appeared in old clothing and a worn face that had once been a porcelain human face. It introduced itself as a servant of humans and explained that they had been waiting hundred of years for evidence that humans even existed.

The servant pledged the automaton nation to the cause of stopping the magic cult. Magic had been what destroyed their home and killed their creators. The PCs were able to go through some of the few remaining historical accounts written shortly before the destruction of the continent that described the cult of Asthagarathk and ancient god of destruction that promised power to those that woke it from it's slumber.

They were able to find information about possible locations for the ritual site. Armed with the new information they tried to rally the automaton nation into setting sail with them, unsuccessfully. They did manage to convince two automatons (Slinky and Slowmo) to join their crew. They set set for the island of Bondye Bijou in hopes of tracking down more information on this ancient cult and to hopefully restock some of their equipment after such a perilous journey to get where they were.

Will they find the cult in time to save Geralt's lost love? Will they find clues in the new port? Will the PCs be able to keep their demonic powers secret from the citizens of the world?
